For this set, we wanted a more abstract look. We wanted to represent the plains of Wyoming, yet the director also wanted different levels to work with. The colors of the set were very muted greys, browns and greens. The cyc in the back was used to splash color onto the set. We also built a symbolic fence which appeared behind a scrim at the end or Act I.

Lighting was very important in this show. It was used to isolate acting areas on stage and also to reflect the mood or tone of the scene. We purchased Altman Spectra Pars (the same ones that we rented for King and I) and continue to use them for color upstage. Just as important as the light in this show was the shadow and darkness. Multi-Media projections were used stage left and right throughout the show along with furniture pieces to set the location of scenes. We also incorporated live video feeds of the stage at times.

Pages 3 and 4 also have pictures taken during perormance.
