Our most photographed show so far! Designed by committee including the Stagecraft Honors Students '04. The inspiration was the recent production of Oklahoma! featuring Hugh Jackman. We wanted a more "realistic" Oklahoma!, and not the pretty, clean, All-American version commonly used. The set was comprised of several wagons including the Farm House, Smoke House, Barn Frame and a fully functional Windmill (it's a modified ceiling fan!). Our use of the fan was featured in an article in USITT's Sightlines entitled "Scenic Tricks with Non-Traditional Sources" Again, the white cyc and ground row technique was used - and in my opinion, this was its most realistic use. The Smoke House scene was deliberately dark and ominous, to match the character of Judd. Lights were used in the orchestra pit for effects during the Ballet Sequence, as well as the "Heating Grate" patterns for added texture.
